Bachata Manía
Dominican Bachata Ensemble · Four Distinct Voices
- Latin
- Bachata
Profile
Bachata Manía is a Dominican bachata ensemble created and curated by Ry-Jean Valks for Mandela Records. Its artistic mission is to carry the emotional soul of traditional bachata into a contemporary, internationally accessible format without losing the individuality and conversational tension that make the genre powerful.
Rather than presenting a single interchangeable group voice, Bachata Manía is built around four fixed artistic identities. Rafael brings memory, Luis brings possibility, Jairo brings difficult truths, and Camila gives those truths a direct answer. Their contrasting personalities create a musical language of dialogue, reconciliation and unresolved desire.
The ensemble uses Mandela Records’ hybrid creative approach: precise digital production tools under human-led songwriting, storytelling and artistic direction. Its four voices are fictional/digital characters, designed as a coherent group with long-term continuity.

Rafael Cruz
“El Maestro”
The Keeper of Memory · Lead storyteller
Rafael is the group’s anchor: the voice that carries history, patience and emotional weight. “El Maestro” does not need to dominate a song to be heard. His phrasing suggests someone who has seen romance at its most generous and its most painful, and who understands that regret is often quieter than anger. In group arrangements he opens the door to reflection, giving the other voices a story worth answering.

Luis Ángel Reyes
“El Heredero”
Melody & Hope · The new-generation romantic
Luis, also identified in earlier creative work as Luis Ángel Reyes, is the young romantic voice of Bachata Manía. At 27 in his established character concept, “El Heredero” carries the melodic optimism of a new generation, respectful of traditional bachata but ready to speak in a more immediate and contemporary language. He brings lift to the chorus, warmth to a duet and the belief that a difficult relationship can still find a new beginning.

Jairo Méndez
“El Rebelde”
Tension & Raw Truth · The uncompromising voice
Jairo is the counterweight to easy romance. “El Rebelde” gives voice to pride, jealousy, consequence and the things people avoid admitting. His presence is serious and restrained rather than theatrical: a storyteller who uses friction to reveal emotional truth. In the group’s dramatic structure, Jairo challenges Rafael’s perspective and Luis’s optimism, creating the tension that lets a chorus feel earned.

Camila Rosario
“La Morena”
Confrontation & Clarity · The female perspective
Camila is the group’s essential fourth perspective. “La Morena” answers rather than simply harmonizes: she questions excuses, draws boundaries and gives emotional clarity to stories that might otherwise be told entirely through male voices. She can be tender without surrendering her agency, incisive without losing warmth. Her artistic role turns Bachata Manía into a genuine conversation, where love is not complete until every person is heard.
